Under Goebbels, the Propaganda Ministry issued two dozen directives every week on exactly what news should be published and what angles to use; the typical newspaper followed the directives closely, especially regarding what to omit. None were sold until after the war, when the vehicle was renamed the Volkswagen (people's car). These laws became the basis of the Führerprinzip, the concept that Hitler's word overrode all existing laws. Both parents were examined for racial suitability before acceptance.
